Addiction

"Addiction is not a disease. Addiction is a response to pain. It is the compulsive use of any substance, person, feeling, or behaviour with a relative disregard of the potentially negative social, psychological, and physical consequences." - https://www.reallove.com/addiction

Given this definition of addiction, I would suggest that most of many people's lives have been (and still are) based on addiction. This is usually a serious source of depression that always makes things worse. However, it can become more of a source of motivation.

Finding a definition of love that we can truly relate to ( http://reallove.com/what-is-real-love ) can help us figure out how to deal with the more severely depressive reactions we experience. Our addictive behaviours aren't changed immediately, but we can have ways to understand why we are the way we are, and that helps us accept ourselves regardless of whether we solve our addictive behaviours or not. We do not have to cure our addictions in order to become worthwhile people. The truth is simple and absolute... we are worthwhile regardless of our addictions.
